Mongolia first adopted the Labor Law on 14 May 1999 and since then the Labor Law has been amended a total of 24 times1. This Labor Law was enacted in 1999 to regulate labor relations in the context of the transition period in accordance with the social and economic requirements of the time. On 26 March 2018, the Government submitted a draft of the Revised Labor Law to the Parliament due to the need to align the Labor Law in accordance with the current state of labor relations, international standards, and trends. Subsequently, on 2 July 2021, the Parliament enacted the Revised Labor Law, which will come into force on 1 January 2022, at its plenary session.

Therefore, we set out below what key provisions have been amended and introduced in this newly adopted Revised Labor Law from the current Labor Law.
